About Zayn Valor

Hello, dear visitor or reader. My name is Zayn Valor, and I write My Bodensee.

My relationship with Lake Constance began long before My Bodensee existed as a publication. I first visited the region regularly in 2016, and in 2018 work brought me here permanently, in a role connected with Airbus in Immenstaad. Life and work later took me elsewhere in Europe, but the Bodensee was the place I kept returning to. In 2021, I made Immenstaad am Bodensee my home.

Living here changed how I saw the region. The famous places are beautiful, but everyday life reveals a different Bodensee: small villages that tourists drive through without stopping, family-run businesses, local traditions, quiet stretches of shoreline, and countless places that rarely make it into international travel guides. That is the Bodensee I set out to document.

Why My Bodensee Exists

There is already a great deal written about Lake Constance in German. There is far less written comprehensively for international visitors and residents in English, and what does exist is often scattered across tourism boards, municipal sites, event calendars and individual businesses rather than gathered in one place.

My Bodensee brings that world together: an independent, English-language resource covering not only the major destinations but the wider region around the lake, including southern Germany, Vorarlberg, northeastern Switzerland and nearby Liechtenstein.

How I Approach the Region

I write as part local, part perpetual visitor, someone who still explores the Bodensee with real curiosity rather than a checklist. I'm interested in why a place exists, what makes it distinct, what locals produce, what survives from its history, and whether somewhere is genuinely worth the journey.

That approach shapes everything My Bodensee covers: travel, local discovery, history and culture, food and regional products, nature, everyday life, and practical information for residents and visitors alike.

A Guide Built to Grow

My Bodensee is a long-term project by design, not a handful of generic destination posts but a deep, ongoing regional archive: towns and villages, attractions and museums, landscapes, restaurants, local producers, events, history and everyday life around Lake Constance.

There is always another road to take, another village to explore, another story worth uncovering. That's what makes this region worth documenting properly.
